Lewandowski with a brace: Bayern Munich beat El-Ahly to reach the World Cup final
Thanks to Robert Lewandowski, Bayern Munich have reached the final of the FIFA Club World Cup. On Wednesday, the Bundesliga record champions and current UEFA Champions League holders beat El-Ahly SC 2-0 at Ahmed bin Ali Stadium in Doha.
In front of 12,000 spectators, Lewandowski scored both goals for FC Bayern Munich (17' & 86'). The 32-year-old Polish striker has now scored 29 goals in 27 games across all competitions this season. Coached by Hansi Flick, Bayern could become just the second club after Barcelona to win six titles in just 12 months.
Bayern will now face Concacaf Champions League winners Tigres UANL on Thursday (18:00 GMT). The Mexicans beat Major League Soccer side Los Angeles FC in December to win their first international title and to qualify for the FIFA Club World Cup. On Sunday, Tigres beat Copa Libertadores winners' Palmeiras 1-0 thanks to a goal by André-Pierre Gignac.
