Berhalter announces USMNT squad for November qualifiers - Scally called up
US men's national team head coach Gregg Berhalter has announced his 25-man squad for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Mexico (Nov. 12) and Jamaica (Nov. 16). The USMNT is currently in second place in the Hexagonal three points behind their biggest rivals Mexico and just one point ahead of Canada (to the standings).
“Our focus remains on a next game up mentality," Berhalter said in a USMNT press release. "After this window we’ll be more than halfway through the Octagonal, so we have a chance to position ourselves well heading into next year. “When it comes to USA-Mexico, I’m excited for our players because it isn’t just a game - it’s an event. This is the best of World Cup Qualifying, and our group is ready for the challenge.”
Called up for the first time is Borussia Mönchengladbach right-back Joe Scally. The 18-year-old is having a standout season in the Bundesliga. Back in the squad are also Reggie Cannon (Boavista), Sam Vines (Antwerp), and Jesús Ferreira (FC Dallas) The roster also sees the return of Chelsea star Christian Pulisic, who has struggled with injuries all season (check out the full roster here).
